TitleLetter from T J J [Thomas Jefferson Jackson] See, Naval Observatory, Mare Island, California, to Joseph Larmor, St John's College, Cambridge
CreatorSee; Thomas Jefferson Jackson (1866-1962); American astronomer
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date25 March 1908
DescriptionHe thinks that duties will not allow Larmor much time to read, but draws his attention to the first three pages of his earthquake paper, just published by the American Philosophical Society. He has sent a reprint and the light this throws upon the Earth's crust and ocean leakage will be of interest to a physicist. Another paper will appear on mountain ranges, as well as continental uplift. The elevation of continents is shown to be due to the action of the sea. Various papers published by the Royal Society on gravitational instability have a false premise, as the Earth is not contracting, he believes.
