TitleLetter from J J [Joseph John] Thomson, Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorThomson; Sir Joseph John (1856-1940); British physicist
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date22 April 1910
DescriptionHe deferred answering until [Richard Daniel] Kleeman had done some experiments. Thomson suggested doing these in a vaccuum, although the effect he was getting could not be explained by the pressure of gas, but Bragg had raised this question. In the repeated experiments in a vaccuum, the results were the same. He sends the account which might be added to Kleeman's paper. He would like to speak to Larmor about [Frederick Thomas] Trouton's writing about a grant for Southern. Thomson thinks he has missed the relevant meeting and wonders if a grant might be offered from the Reserve Fund.
