| Description | He has looked in vain for traces of polarization in the fluorescent light of sodium vapour. He gives an account of trying to find fluoresencein a test-tube. He asks about Felix Hackett, who wishes to come over to work with Wood. With regard to the distrubed ring of electrons which give fluorescent lines along a normal spectrum, he describes the series he has found, with diagrams, all of which are excited by monochromatic light. He notes that he is trying to find out whether these consist of simple series of equidistant lines of different spacings. He has repeated the polarization experiment to be sure, but with the same negative result. |
