| Title | Incomplete letter from Morris W [William] Travers, Chemical Laboratory, University College, Bristol, to [Joseph] Larmor |
| Creator | Travers; Morris William (1872-1961); British chemist |
| Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
| Date | 22 May 1906 |
| Description | He asks Larmor to keep a paper until they have the chance to speak together. [A damaged section follows this, resuming] He finds that for cotton and water vapour the equilibrium is represented by a straight line and corresponds with Henry's law. He would be much obliged if Larmor could go through a short note of his on a phenomenon of opalescence observed at the critical temperatures of pure substances. The condition in which this appears has now been properly worked out, he thinks, only to be observed in large and thin-walled tubes, requiring sound nerve as well as powers of observation. His attention has been called to something relevant at the British Association in 1904.
A section of letter [p.1] has been torn off. |
