TitleLetter from H H [Herbert Hall] Turner, University Observatory, Oxford, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorTurner; Herbert Hall (1861-1930); British astronomer and seismologist
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date3 February 1910
Description[Samuel Arthur] Saunder has sent on Larmor's letter and he suggests a meeting next time [Ralph Allan] Sampson is with them. Turner has a notebook of W.H.'s [William Herschel's] which he wants to examine. [Joseph Alfred] Hardcastle is laid up and Turner has to give R.I. [Royal Institution] lectures. The paper of William Herschel's that Colonel J. [John] Herschel had Larmor print ten years ago was wanted in America, but Turner wishes that he could have edited it, noting difficulties with the family. He thanks Larmor for his help with Milne, who 'is sore about the German International affair' and behaves unreasonably. Turner does not like the idea of the International Society coming to Manchester next year, but that is [Arthur] Schuster's problem.
