TitleLetter from A E H [Alfred Edwin Howard] Tutton, 41 Ladbroke Grove, London, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorTutton; Alfred Edwin Howard (1864-1938); British crystallographer and alpinist
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date15 December 1908
DescriptionIn proposing his book on 'The practical study of crystals', Tutton is writing the chapter on the optical aspects of the subject. In trying to give a faithful account of the electromagnetic theory of light, he would like a concise version from Larmor's papers or lectures. This should cover the nature of aether, light waves, and recent work with radium which bear upon the subject. Tutton wrote an account of light a few years ago, but the subject was changing so rapidly he did not publish; however there is now a period of taking stock and Tutton woudl like his chapter to do this, bringing his previously unpublished article up to date.
