DescriptionDewra considers that everyone should be treated alike and everyone treated according to statutes. Instead of the Officers directing the Clerk or Assistant Secretary to communicate with the proroser of a candidate [for election to the Royal Society] all such actions should be debarred by direct order. He does not think that Mr. James culd have answered his question if the affirmative unless something was within his knowledge. He is not going to appeal on the grounds of irregularity if the Officers find grounds for an extension. Sir W. [William] Crookes told him that in the past, a notice of renewal of candidates was then proposed
