Creator | Chree; Charles (1860-1928); British physicist |
Recipient | Larmor; Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 29 October 1908 |
Description | Returns the letter from the Hydrographers Office, noting that the ship observations may be provided to them should they ask. Chree discusses the difference between land and sea observations, as well as the necessity of a higher degree of precision when making observations of ice. He mentions an anomaly found by [Arthur] Rucker and [Edwars] Thorpe in results from the Thames Valley and questions if variables such as this have been adequately allowed for by the admiralty when considering results obtained at sea.
