TitleLetter from F Y [Francis Ysidro] Edgeworth, All Soul's College, Oxford, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorEdgeworth; Francis Ysidro (1845-1926); Irish economist and statistician
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date1 July [1900?]
DescriptionHe has put off correcting the encyclopaedia article on 'errors'. Larmor's letter, which was enclosed with the proofs, should have been acknowledged sooner. Larmor's remarks were just and suggestive and Edgeworth has modified the text accordingly. He has made brief marginal notes referring to Larmor's criticisms, but these are not for publication. Referring to the law of great numbers, he used expressions to indicate that the law was only true in certain conditions, but he has added a note pointing them out. He returns the proofs, asking for a fair copy to make corrections. He sends some offprints, bearing upon the points Larmor has raised.
