| Title | Letter from Arch [Archibald] Geikie, Shepherd's Down, Haslemere, Surrey, to [Joseph] Larmor |
| Creator | Geikie; Sir Archibald (1835-1924); British geologist and historian |
| Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
| Date | 30 July 1908 |
| Description | Geikie was vexed that Larmor had not been invited tot he meeting presenting gifts to [George] Kennedy. [David] Ferrier and [Arthur] Gamgee started the event and notices were sent out by them. They considered a smaller company would be better for the Kennedys [the Royal Society's long-term employees] and therefore only the five original appeal signatories were notified. Geikie considers that Larmor should have been 'in front of the whole business' and offers his apologies. |
