| Description | Ewing does not accept Larmor's description of their 'isolation'. There is nothing to prevent any college from giving teaching, and as to mathematics and physics some of their best men have come via the mathematical and natural sciences tripos. He thinks that referring the report back now would be inconvenient for the unfortunate professor [Ewing himself] who wants to resign. In a postscript, Ewing hopes that a successor will have sympathy with the mathematical and physical side of engineering. |
