| Title | Letter from Arch [Archibald] Geikie, Royal Society, Burlington House, London, to [Joseph] Larmor |
| Creator | Geikie; Sir Archibald (1835-1924); British geologist and historian |
| Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
| Date | 27 October 1911 |
| Description | Geikie went to the India Office. Lord Crewe was engaged, but he spoke with Sir T. [Thomas William] Holdeness, who said that the Royal Society was within its province to write. Lord Crewe's private secretary said that Lord Curzon was to ask a question in the House of Lords which Crewe would reply to, and it was desirable that he should be provided with as much information as possible. The matter is therefore urgent and Crewe would be glad to have the opinion of the Royal Society. Geikie did not see Larmor that morning at the Athenaeum, and therefore he has had the letter re-typed in his own name as President and has sent it to the India Office. |
