| Title | Letter from Arch [Archibald] Geikie, Shepherd's Down, Haslemere, Surrey, to [Joseph] Larmor |
| Creator | Geikie; Sir Archibald (1835-1924); British geologist and historian |
| Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
| Date | 31 January 1918 |
| Description | He welcomed Larmor's letter and the proof corrections. Geikie's neuritis has largely gone, but his muscular power has been slow to return. He has electric treatment and last week an operation which has confined him to bed. He hopes that Larmor's essay on Sadi Carnot will be published soon and it is good to hear that he can do work in the middle of distractions. He has news of [Charles] Barrois at the University of Lille; he and his wife have survived 'in the midst of the German invaders', with their son spending two years in Germany as a prisoner, now released. |
