| Title | Letter from A [Andrew] Gray, Penybryn, Bangor, to [Joseph] Larmor |
| Creator | Gray; Andrew (1847-1925); British physicist |
| Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
| Date | 8 April 1897 |
| Description | He discusses E. [Edward] Taylor Jones's experiments and magnetic elongation, comparing it to [Shelford] Bidwell's paper in the Royal Society's Proceedings volume 47 and values of pulls in kilos per square centimetre. Little of no effect was found. He notes Larmor's equations, comparing them with the results of the experiments, but Larmor must see the whole paper. Jones may be able to send him a proof. He gives thanks to Larmor for enquiries on Bryan and himself. He has seen the Royal Society's list of candidates and hopes that [George Ballard] Matthews may be elected this time. |
