DescriptionAfter trouble with an insulation breakdown in his electrostatic voltometer he has made experiments on the effects of rotation in causing discharge of the disk. Thedisk was charged to 5,800 volts and the time for the potential to drop to 3,000 was observed in the disk when at rest and in motion, He gives these values, and describes the plates forming part of the apparatus. He does not think it shows any true effect of turbulent motion of the air, but rathwr that the average rate of leakage in all positions was greater than the poition when the disk was stationary. Gray wants to get a better coating and shape for the disk and a result for a higher difference of potential. He goes to Stonehaven on Monday and must leave the work with assitants.
