TitleLetter from A [Andrew] Gray, Physical Laboratory, The University, Glasgow, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorGray; Andrew (1847-1925); British physicist
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date30 April 1908
DescriptionGray is sorry that equipment has been damaged. The 'young fellow' who packed it did not understand the dynamics and put in a glass plate without any padding. Gray has found the Oersted compression vessel, and apologises for the blunders. He thinks that Heath could get the glass repaired so that Larmor might use the gyrostats. He describes two photographs of the large tidal analyser, one of which he is sending to Larmor, who may wish to display it at the Royal Institution. He wishes Larmor success in his lecture. In a postscript, he recommends that Larmor uses a triple spring vibrator for his lecture, with a small sketch in illustration.
