TitleLetter from Arch [Archibald] Geikie, Haslemere, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorGeikie; Sir Archibald (1835-1924); British geologist and historian
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date7 August 1912
DescriptionHe has received a letter from [Charles Thomson Rees] Wilson at Eskdalemuir saying he was a candidate for the Chair of Mathematics at London University, and also for the Chair of Mathematics and Physics at the new University of West Australia. Geikie knows of his work at Eskdalemuir, but nothing before that. He asks Larmor to supply some facts on Wilson's career. He hopes that Larmor is having a restful holiday, asks if he intends to go to Ireland, and whether they might see him at Ardkinglas. Geikie has been sleeping day and night, and the weather is so stormy that 'a sea by the fire with a book and a snoozle is preferable'.
