Description | [Thomas Jefferson Jackson] See is very excited about what he claims to have discovered. Huggins mentions a paper by [Forest Ray] Moulton in the 'Astrophysical Journal', regarding the possible oscillations of the sun if its equilibrium is disturbed. He then mentions [Charles Greeley] Abbot's work looking at the effects of change in the solar constant. Huggins comments 'Who can calculate the oscillations of the contemporary scientific mind in these days, when its equilibrium is disturbed by almost every post bombarding it with new facts and new ideas!'. He then mentions [Hugh Frank] Newall's view on the spectrum of a comet. Huggins is excited to send Larmor one of the earliest copies of his book. |
