| Description | Huggins congratulates Larmor again on his 'Royal Accolade'. Huggins has had a letter from the Secretary of the American Astronomical Society asking him to invite all of the astronomers going to Winnipeg to attend a meeting of the Society at the Yerkes Observatory. He hopes Larmor can attend to 'represent British astronomy'. He then discusses [Hugo Hans Ritter von] Seeliger's claims which correspond with [Simon] Newcomb's findings, regarding the planets. [Percival] Lowell has sent him a photograph of Jupiter which he plans to show at the Winnipeg meeting. Huggins has two plates of reproductions of his drawings of Jupiter from fifty years ago, and wil be sending them to Larmor. He is happy about the choice of Bakerian Lecturer [Joseph Larmor]. |
