Title | Letter from E [Edwin] Ray Lankester, British Museum (Natural History), Cromwell Road, London, to [Joseph] Larmor, Secretary, the Royal Society |
Creator | Lankester; Sir (Edwin) Ray (1847-1929); British zoologist |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 22 February [no year] |
Description | He thanks Larmor for his letter and thinks it right that Council should decide. He asks when the new statute was passed altering March to January and if there was any delay until its force was understood by Fellows. He thinks that the whole provision for 're-suspending' should be struck out, since it is not needed with the new five year limit. From what has happened to Goodricke, it is an awkward provision, involving in the Secretary in the time-consuming business of having to write to people. It should not be assumed that proposers would not wish a certificate to be re-suspended. |
