| Description | The idea that Joseph had about the electrical question of [Arthur] Schuster's is the same as Schuster's. He wants to get the potential in a gas through which an electrical discharge is passing. Alexander describes the method being employed to do this. Schuster wishes to find out whether polarization occurs on the surface of an experimental ball, and Alexander describes the experimental apparatus and his 'very tedious' work with an astatic galvanometer, going on to discuss results. The letter continues in pencil, with Alexander telling Schuster about his capillary tube phenomena, and Schuster professing to have an explanation. He gives this, asking Joseph for his opinion. |
