Title | Letter from Alex [Alexander] Larmor, Academical Institution, Londonderry, to Joseph [Larmor] |
Creator | Larmor; Alexander (d.1936); Irish mathematician and science educator |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 26 September 1893 |
Description | He has been to busy to acknowledge the receipt of rugs, which arrived safely. Things are settling down and he can see his way. He has had a note from Anderson wanting Alexander to apply for Allman's post at Galway and he asks for Joseph's advice. The school is not flourishing, but Alexander likes the work and he believes he could improve matters in time. The governors have certain claims on him. The boarding department pays all expenses of the house, servants and taxes, and with higher fees there would be a good profit. He would be content to remain there for a few years, but it may be a mistake not to try for the other post if Joseph thinks it might be permanent. |
