Title | Letter from Alex [Alexander] Larmor, Foyle College, Londonderry, to Joseph [Larmor] |
Creator | Larmor; Alexander (d.1936); Irish mathematician and science educator |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 6 June 1897 |
Description | Alexander thinks little of Willie's Uganda project, giving reasons. He has relayed his opinion to Willie [William Wright Larmor] that he should stick with current plans and read with a view to taking an engineering qualification. After a couple of seasons at College he would be in the running for a county surveyorship. Alexander has no plan for his own future course, but considers establishing a private school at Buncrana. He has heard of a vacant headmastership at Bath College and has written for particulars. The advertisement was in the Spectator and he wonders if Joseph knows someone who can tell him about the place. Examinations begin soon, and Alexander will be free afterwards, inviting Joseph to visit. |
