DescriptionA parcel has arrived addressed to Joseph containing Newton's correspondence and recollection of Werner von Siemens from an Edinburgh bookseller, and he has paid the bill. Alexander has invested in Caledonian Railway and North Eastern Railway shares on the advice of Taylor, a careful broker. There has been excitement at Belfast elections, where competition between Captain Smiley and Pirie allowed Devlin to become elected. He gives an outline of why a simple explanation of gravitation may be wrong, explaining via electrical theory.
