Title | Letter from William J S [James Stewart] Lockyer, Solar Physics Observatory, South Kensington, London, to Sir Joseph Larmor |
Creator | Lockyer; William James Stewart (1868-1936); British astronomer ands physicist |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 11 January 1910 |
Description | He thanks Larmor for his letter and he will insert small slips in the paper regarding the marked portions. He encloses a self-explanatory scheme of surface air circulation, prepared for the memoir. He assumes that anticyclones are descending currents and cyclones ascending. He has found Thomson's paper in Philosophical Transactions and is familiar with those views. He thanks Larmor for the trouble taken about his lengthy letters.
With an isobar map of the southern hemisphere. |
