Title | Letter from William Jack, Nithbank, Thornhill, Dunfriesshire, to [Joseph] Larmor |
Creator | Jack; William (1834-1924); British mathematician and newspaper editor |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 18 June 1901 |
Description | Larmor's note gave him great pleasure. He remembers the examination and the impression that Larmor made on the Commission. It was good to see Larmor and Galway, and good for the College, but if it had been in their power they would have advised Larmor to go to Cambridge, as he did. Jack was sorry to see so little of his friends, but his wife's health prevented him from entertaining. He thinks it 'delightful' that Larmor can speak so warmly of his experiences with them. |
