TitleLetter from O J L [Oliver Joseph Lodge], 2 Grove Park, Liverpool, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorLodge; Sir Oliver Joseph (1851-1940); British physicist
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date6 November 1898
DescriptionHe thanks Larmor for the details he sent and it woudl have been too much joy to have been medalled alongside Rayleigh and Fitzgerald. He thinks that [George Francis] Fitzgerald will rejoice that [John] Kerr has got it first [the Royal Medal], as does Lodge, because of his age. He is glad that Larmor is staying on Council [of the Royal Society]. Lodge is not as clear as Larmor about Gardinerl he would like to have seen Bateson recognised, but 'the Zoologists are down on him'. The Darwin Medal awarded to 'K.P.' [Karl Pearson] is an extraordinary thing. He wonders why it should not have gone to Weldon or Poulton, but realises they were on Council. He wonders why [Alfred Bray] Kempe was made Treasurer and apologises for his many queries.
