TitleLetter from O J L [Oliver Joseph Lodge], Mariemont, Edgbaston, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorLodge; Sir Oliver Joseph (1851-1940); British physicist
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date12 May 1909
DescriptionLodge had intended to see and hear [George Ellery] Hale, having been interested in his sunspot work since his discovery announced in Dublin. Lodge's engagements about three empty Chairs have prevented him. He asks Larmor to remember him to Hale, thinking there is little chance he will come to Birmingham, but it would be a pleasure to see him if he was able to. He hopes that nothing he has said devalues Larmor's 'scribbles', which are most valuable, and without them he would not have noticed the relevance of his pamphlet. 'You have kept all your tools sharp beside having so splendid an equipment of them'.
