Title | Letter from O J L [Oliver Joseph Lodge], Normanton House, Lake, near Salisbury, to [Joseph] Larmor |
Creator | Lodge; Sir Oliver Joseph (1851-1940); British physicist |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 18 September 1920 |
Description | He rejoices at the reprinting of [James Clerk] Maxwell's 'Matter and Motion', with Larmor's 'admirable' contributions. It is a blessing to get a new likeness of Maxwell, who never took his rightful place in public estimation; reporters constantly ask how to spell his name. Lodge is now in his 'new' old farmhouse and hopes to see Larmor there. He notes the trials of getting everything straight and his wife felt the uprooting most. Most of the family remain near Birmingham. |
