TitleLetter from H M [Hector Munro] Macdonald, 52 College Bounds, Aberdeen, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorMacdonald; Hector Munro (1865-1935); British mathematician
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date7 December 1911
DescriptionThe present position of the 'Niven business' is that he has handed part of eleven guineas to Walker; [William] Burnside and Walker both have twelve guineas, and with Larmor's twenty, fifty-five in total. Macdonald will be staying in London next week and could arrange to go to Sidcup with Larmor, to persuade [William Davidson] Niven if required. He has written to the artist [Campbell Lindsay Smith] but has not heard back. The sittings could be arranged for Christmas, when both artist and Niven would be in Aberdeen. For the [Augustus Edward Hough] Love testimonial he has 13 1/2 guineas and some promises, probably twenty guineas altogether. Love should be consulted about what he would like and the presentation could take place at the January meeting.
