TitleLetter from H M [Hector Munro] Macdonald, 52 College Bounds, Aberdeen, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorMacdonald; Hector Munro (1865-1935); British mathematician
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date19 March 1912
DescriptionHe was unable to see Larmor in town at the [London] Mathematical [Society] but he accompanied [William] Burnside to [Campbell] Lindsay Smith's studio to view the portrait [of William Davidson Niven]. Niven wishes to have it at Sidcup to show friends and Macdonald hopes that Larmor will go and give his opinion. The price will be £70 including the frame, which will leave £5 in hand. He is enquiring about the cost of making 75 reproductions made. The next step will be to draft a letter to the University [of Aberdeen] and perhaps Larmor would do that, Macdonald emphasising the need to hurry. He asks if Larmor might come to Aberdeen over Easter.
