TitleLetter from Herbert McLeod, The Royal Society, Burlington House, London, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorMcLeod; Herbert (1841-1923); British chemist
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date8 January 1909
DescriptionHe apologises for not replying to a note from Larmor. At present they have 55,180 references collected in physics and he discusses their subject distribution [in the Catalogue of Scientific Papers] and the slips involved. He wonders how the initial estimate of 250,000 papers was arrived at, noting that they are not attempting to capture all paper, only the most important. Miss Everitt has all the slips on sound, and will be glad to go on to electricity and magnetism when this is finished. McLeod has finished the list of serials for mechanics.
