| Title | Letter from A A [Albert Abraham] Michelson, Chicago, to [Joseph] Larmor |
| Creator | Michelson; Albert Abraham (1852-1931); American physicist |
| Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
| Date | 2 May 1914 |
| Description | He thanks Larmor for his appreciative letter, noting that the suggestion of a highly rigid disc coil is attractive. He can see objections to acceptance of the possibility of a colotropic structure under enormous pressure. This may not be as serious as he imagines, and perhaps not entirely beyond experiment. He gives a postscript on the effects of tides, which although worldwide, their variety and directions make it hard to believe they could give so large an effect. |
