TitleLetter from E [Ernest] Rutherford, 17 Wilmslow Road, Withington, Manchester, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorRutherford; Ernest; Baron Rutherford of Nelson (1871-1937); New Zealand physicist
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date4 March 1910
DescriptionRutherford 'is on the warpath' looking for a mathematical physicist for the Manchester Physics Department. He would like Larmor's views. The post might be anywhere between £300 and £600 per annum, and the work would be 'pretty easy', with time for research. He gives his views on the type of man required and asks what Larmor knows of [Henry Cabourne] Pocklington, [Louis Napoleon George] Filon, and [Ebenezer] Cunningham. [Bertram Borden] Boltwood has told him that Yale will be after Willisch [?].
