DescriptionRutherford is now in a position to give an answer to Larmor's enquiries on whether he would be prepared to stand for the post of Cavendish Professor and Director of the Cavendish Laboratory. He is prepared to accept an offer as outlined in Larmor's letters. He is uncertain about the sources of income for the Chair, but he wants to make it clear that he would accept an offer if guaranteed his Manchester salary of £1,250. He would consider it great honour to work at the Cavendish.
