| Description | Becquerel is deeply touched by Schuster's kind letter and invitation. He did not reply sooner, being concerned that he might not be able to go to Manchester. Becquerel is obliged to be at a lecture in London at the Royal Institution in March, which will keep him from his work in Paris for a considerable time. He still hopes to come to Manchester, but does not want to accept Schuster's invitation to stay at his home, explaining that he travels to London with his wife and son, and does not want to be a burden to Schuster. If he comes it will be on Tuesday evening and he must be back in Paris on Friday the 14th. It would give him pleasure to see Schuster. |
