| Title | Letter from James West, Lincoln's Inn [London, England], to Martin Folkes, Queens Square, Ormond Street, [London] |
| Creator | West; James (1703-1772); British politician and antiquary |
| Recipient | Folkes; Martin (1690 - 1754); antiquary and natural philosopher |
| Date | 6 February 1741 |
| Description | [Francis] Hauksbee has communicated Folkes' instruction regarding the state of the Croonian Lectures to West. West advises that he has looked at his and [Roger] Gale's accounts and the inital decree of the Court of Chancery was pronounced on 25 February 1728 and summarises rents paid by the College of Physicians starting with payment by the Treasurer Dr Wharton in 1731 up to Michelmas 1740. The Treasurers' accounts do not provide clear information on payments made to readers of the Croonian Lectures as they have sometimes been combined with other payments, clearer information on the Presidents' orders for the lectures should be found in the minutes of Council.
