TitleLetter, John Solomon, c/o Barclays Bank, Kampala, Uganda, to 'Dear Professor' [Percy George Hamnall Boswell]
Date21 September 1935
DescriptionHe went to see Wayland as soon as he arrived - Wayland's relations with O'Brien are perfectly good - and Solomon was welcomed cordially. Boswell can put his mind at rest about matters in Uganda. O'Brien sounded him out about the possible scandal involving O'Brien and Mrs. Hastings. Solomon told him that people were drawing the obvious conclusion and he was genuinely annoyed. O'Brien reckons that finances will last for about nine months, so Boswell can expect to see Solomon in July. They go to Mbarara tomorrow. Solomon feels a load off his chest and thinks that Wayland had a peevish bout.
