DescriptionHe thanks Hatchett for the essay and he has read with great pleasure 'the additions to the store of knowledge of the Arabs for which they were indebted to the Hindus'. He sends Hatchett his translation from the Arabic of their earliest treatise on algebra, with some internal evidence of the debt to Indian precursors.
