Title | Letter from Eliza Iselin, 5 Alfred Street, Bedford Square, to 'Dear Sir' [Charles Hatchett] |
Creator | Iselin; Eliza (fl.1820s-1840s); British |
Recipient | Hatchett; Charles (1765-1847); British chemist |
Date | 24 June 1836 |
Description | She is unknown to Hatchett personally, but knows from her sister [Sophia Iselin] that he is musical, and so offers the hymn attached to this note [not present]. It is her first musical work and has little to recommend it but the beauty of the words. She asks if he might introduce it to his friends, and she discusses private circulation and distribution by music sellers, giving the names of the shops she intends to employ. She will leave private stock with her aunt in Bedford Square and asks to be excused as her sister has led her to take this liberty. |
