Description | Explaining the error over the 400-franc wine bill, a 'French inaccuracy'. On a gang of French coiners who counterfeited using platina and copper covered with a thin layer of gold. They were discovered by accident. Their coins were examined by cutting across and scrutinizing under a strong lens. They were later arrested attempting to buy platina. Chenevix has found the ideal man for Brande, a Scottish doctor studying in France. Comments on the scandal and indecency of French debating chambers. The opinion of Malthus on Chenevix's articles for the Edinburgh Review: 'he is instigating war and making bad blood between the two countries'. |
