Title | Letter from Carl Braun, Mariaschein, Bohemia, to Charles Vernon Boys |
Creator | Braun; Carl (1831-1907); German Jesuit astronomer |
Recipient | Boys; Sir Charles Vernon (1855-1944); British physicist and inventor |
Date | 30 December 1898 |
Description | Braun would be honoured by a visit from Boys. He fears that the proposal to make quartz fibres at Mariaschein will be impossible, since he does not have the equipment for it - he does not have a laboratory. Comments upon his age and health. He believes that Boys might bring some fibres with him and outlines in detail, with drawings, his method of attaching the fibres to glass tubes for his experiments. He cannot trouble Boys to make new lead spheres, but notes how much better the equipment would be if totally free of iron. |
