Title | Letter from George Gabriel Stokes, Lensfield Cottage, Cambridge, to Charles Vernon Boys |
Date | 29 November 1897 |
Description | 'I'm a little afraid that my letters about sound bores may be a bore to you...' He has reflected upon what Boys's photographs show and has attempted to obtain some numerical results, which he gives. The front and rear bores appear inclined in the photographs, rather than parallel as they theoretically should be. Notes that the aluminium bullet came out with a velocity greater than sound and that the assumed velocity may be too high. He may have misinterpreted the rear strong bore in photograph no.3. |
