Title | Letter from Carl Braun, Mariaschein, Bohemia, to Charles Vernon Boys |
Creator | Braun; Carl (1831-1907); German Jesuit astronomer |
Recipient | Boys; Sir Charles Vernon (1855-1944); British physicist and inventor |
Date | 25 October 1899 |
Description | Braun thanks Boys for sending the work by Mr Lupton. Discusses advice on the torsion balance. He describes his methodology for estimating the torsion force on the arm suspended by a silk thread. He has found an additional problem in calculating the length of the lever exactly. Braun will likely have to purchase another millimeter scale and needs to measure the run of the screws of the micrometers. He gives news of other progress with his equipment and notes his proposed method for moving the quartz fibres. |
