DescriptionHe encloses a copy of the regulations of the Institution of Civil Engineers [not present], noting that Mr Telford is President and summarising the objectives of the organisation. There are limited numbers of men in the honorary class of membership and he list the eminent men who have qualified. Because of Kater's work on the pendulum, and as part of the Trigonometrical Survey of India, it is desired to add his name to the members of this class, limited to forty in total. Wilson was happy to learn from [James] Jones that Kater was in good health and asks if he agrees with the Civils' proposal.
