CreatorSteven; Walter LeConte (1847-1927); American physicist
RecipientPreston; Thomas (1860-1900); Irish physicist
Date8 March 1894
DescriptionStevens has obtained a copy of Preston's 'Theory of Heat'. It gives an account of cooling on pp.444-463, but he has not referred to work by [Francesco] Rossetti and H.F. [Heinrich Friedrich] Weber there. He discusses Weber's work, which is of 'considerable importance', and its history, with papers read in 1888 and 1891. He sends a pamphlet giving details of the work Stevens did in Weber's laboratory in Zurich during May and June 1892. He describes his own experiments, and concludes that Weber would furnish Preston with a copies of his papers, providing Weber's address.
