Title | Correspondence between Maurice Stevenson Bartlett and Wolfgang Muckenheim |
Date | 1982 - 2002 |
Description | A collection of correspondence originally in the posession of Professor Wolfgang Muckenheim. It covers the entire correspondence between him and Bartlett, with Bartlett's original letters present alongside copies of Muckenheim's letters. Many of Muckenheim's original letters are held in MSB/2/91, and in turn this file holds Bartlett's original letters which are found in copy in MSB/2/91. The correspondence presented here though is more complete and covers a slightly longer time period than MSB/2/91 does.
The topics of scientific discussion include negative probabilities, the physics of spin, relativity theory, Bell's spaceship paradox, probability, the Petersburg problem, foot and mouth disease, and Fermat's last theorem, among other topics. There are also discussions around books, personal items such as Christmas cards, family news and personal health updates. A letter from Bartlett's daughter exists at the end of the file, dated 12 January 2002, informing professer Muckenheim of Bartlett's death. |
