OtherInfo | Distinguished for his contribution to Ichthyology, on which he has published many important works, referring to morphology, classific and geographical distribution. Described the complex copulatory organs of the tiny East Indian Phallostethid fishes. Remembered for his comprehensive fish classification schemes, having defined and surveyed forty orders of fishes. He was the first, in 1925, to recognise the parasitic dwarf males in certain deep-sea angler-fishes. |
