OtherInfo | Through his position as a physician sent by the College of Physicians to the Parliamentary army in 1643, Coxe is said to have been introduced to Thomas Sydenham and advised him to enter the medical profession. Sydenham would later go on to publish one of the standard medical textbooks of his time, 'Observationes Medicae', and be known as 'The English Hippocrates'. Reportedly, his presidency with RCP was terminated due to emerging Whig tendencies and sympathies. |
