OtherInfoWhile little is known about Courthope's private life or profession, it is clear that he maintained a friendship with John Ray (FRS 1667). Courthope came from a strongly royalist family who followed a financial strategy during the interregnum years. This involved buying land from royalist families and then arranging marriages with them.
